LESLIE JEAN-BART

Leslie Jean-Bart has been exhibited in the USA, and abroad.

Born in Haiti where he acquired his love for the ocean, the call to combine the ocean and the camera was never far from his mind. Being his mother’s caretaker, who suffered from dementia for over a decade, has been one of the two major factors powering Leslie Jean-Bart’s creativity and his overall view of life these last few years. The second is the magic of the ocean, and its ability to transport him to a place of calmness and beauty.

Combining the ocean and the camera came about in “Reality & Imagination”, and while being his mother’s caretaker. In his process, Jean-Bart uses the movement of the tide and sand at the beach as a visual exploration of the interaction between the culture of a host country and the culture of the immigrant who lives permanently abroad.
